Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name for Winona Laura Hoowitz, who was born within Winona Minnesota. The name was given to her by her parents after the town where she grew up. Michel Horowitz is her father and Cynthia Palmer is her mother. Ryder's father was born into an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. Ryder also has a half-sister, Sunyata Jubal. Her older sister is Uria. Ryder's family relocated from Mendocino County to California at the age of seven years old. The family didn't have electricity. The books on television were the only way for Ryder to spend the time and she began to read extensively. Ryder started taking acting classes at the American Conservatory Theatre when she was 12 years old. In 1986 she was offered her first major-screen appearance in the movie Lucas she was only fifteen years old. Ryder faced bullying during her high school years. She thought that by becoming an actor, her bullying could be reduced. However, it didn't take place. The actress continued to chase her dreams. Her breakthrough occurred in the year 1988, when Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder was able to continue playing parts that proved successful in a variety of films. In 1993, he was nominated two times for the Academy Awards.
