Whitney Houston and Dana Bash
Whitney Elizabeth Houston, born 9 August 1963, to an incredibly musical family from Newark New Jersey is the daughter of the gospel singers Cissy Houston as well as John Russell Houston Jr. She's also the cousin of singer Dionne Warwick. At the age of a small girl, Houston started singing professionally in the church choir. Houston sang the backing vocals for Chaka Khosn's single from 1978 Im Every Woman with her mom. Then she went on to join the backing vocals of Jermaine, Lou Rawls, and her mother. Her vocals with the New York-based band Material attracted major record labels which included Arista. They signed her with Arista in 1983 and continued to work for the rest of her career. The first Whitney Houston album was released in 1985. It was one of the most successful album by a musician. Her album featured several hits such as How Will I Know You Give Good Love Saving all My Love For you and The Greatest Love of All. It allowed her to achieve seven US charts-topping singles in a row, a feat that was more than the Beatles. The album sold 3 million copies in its initial season in the US and then went on to make 25 million copies worldwide, earning her the first of her six Grammies. Whitney, her album Whitney which came out in 1987, featuring smash tracks What Do Broken Hearts go? and I Wanna Dance With Somebody, built upon her previous success. It came with The Bodyguard (1996) that established her as the top selling album in music. Although her performance in the film and soundtrack was not well-received, the Dolly Parton cover I Will Always Love You and the accompanying album topped charts around the globe for months. When she welcomed her daughter Bobbi she married Bobby Brown of the ex-New Edition group. It was about this time that her much documented substance abuse began. By 1996, she was a regular drug user.
Dana Bash is also known as Dana Ruth Schwartz and she works for CNN as anchorwoman, reporter as well as a political correspondent.
